The Malibu Foundation for Environmental Education is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to a sustainable and healthy planet for all life by educating and motivating people into action.

Eight-year old Allen Martinez, who had never been to the beach before, was quoted by The Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, October 5, 1993, as saying, "Cleaning the beach with my classmates made me feel hopeful."

Gazing at the horizon, a plastic litter bag dangling at his side, he remarked on how blue the water looked. "The whole place looks so beautiful," he said. "I think I can save the Earth."

Since 1991, The Malibu Foundation's Adopt-A-Beach School Assembly Program has reached almost 462,000 California school children. Nearly 58,000 have participated in our annual "Kid's" Adopt-A-Beach Clean-Up each May in celebration of Ocean Day.

Check out www.oceanday.net to see thousands of kids "taking their stand in the sand" and getting out environmental messages.

Students learn that their actions affect the world around them and that they can make a difference. The goal of this program is to motivate children to care about their environment and to do something about it.

We have developed a k-5 standards matrix for you to see how the assembly presentation introduces students to a wide range of subjects.
